Euralarm has published a new White Book about public emergency alarms and response systems: “PEARS: Public Emergency Alarm and Response System” (click here to read the document)

This White Book is a consequence of the need to improve and update the public alarm systems originally created for World War II, based on siren technology, and quite far from current possibilities with new technologies and mobile devices.

European governments have faced for years an additional challenge regarding the control of a crisis caused by natural or man-made disasters, or terrorist attacks. It is now necessary to seek a system that can alarm the population, and that can be adapted to any country and reach the largest number of people, both inside buildings and out on the street.

Euralarm, via its White Book, proposes several actions to increase the efficiency of public alerts, such as:

– Integrating the largest number of possible channels for the transmission of an alarm: Smartphones, GPS systems, television, Internet, mobile ads, etc.

– Adjustments to the current security and fire protection systems, at a minimal cost.

– A connection between various countries with public alert systems that can be activated at the same time, without territorial interruptions.

With this document, Euralarm demonstrates the simplicity and viability of an adaptation of current fire protection systems, as well as evacuation notices by voice and through different channels.

Many of these systems are now being implemented in other parts of the world, but Europe needs to advance and coordinate in the development of a public alarm system that can offer security to its citizens in cases of extreme danger.
